Explanation of correct verb tense

"The chairman of the building committee reported that bids will be let on the new construction in January."  You tell what happened in the meeting.  The chairman gave his report.  PAST TENSE. What did he report?  He reported that progress is being made.  PRESENT PROGRESSIVE TENSE.  He reported that the building will be completed in 2010.  SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE.

I'd describe the secretary's use of other than past tenses in these three cases as "discretionary."  Would be let; was being made; would be completed, are all fine.

For practical purposes, the secretary may view his work as a record for posterity, or he may be thinking in terms of how the minutes of the meeting will be used (or will sound) when they are reviewed at the following meeting a month hence.  At that time, the projected events may well be still in the future.

Perhaps you should seek more professional advice.  My "secretary" experience has been somewhat informal.

(I'll try to catch up on your previous post, if no one beats me to it.)   - A.

1st IDEA (CARNIVAL GAMES)

First week in the Professional Communication class, we were divided into a group in every group must have a discussion and come out with one idea to create event or activities on the Academic Week. And of course we must present our idea in the class.

After the discussion and brainstorming session, my group which is Group 5 choose to make a Carnival Games on that week. From the discussion among group members, we have propose 2  types of games during Academic Week which is Main Games (Snake Checker Box) and Mini Games (Guess Card, Pyramid Apple, Play in 60 seconds,  Dart).

Rules:
Students must pay RM1 per entry

The objective:
  • To make a relationship between senior and junior more tighter.
  • Enjoy and fun with the game to release the tension after classes.
  • Challenge yourself with the challenging  games.
  • We also suggest to give a donation with the profit that we get from the games that enter by students to the orphanage.
  • After presentation, we get more comments and suggestion from our classmates.

Comments:
  • How all this games related to the carnival?
  • RM1 is that worth it with 60 seconds games?
  • How going to apply the skills or how about your  business correspondence ?

Suggestions:
  • Do the event that related with entrepreneurship skills such as selling something.
  • About the donation, why not we just make a memo or letter and invite orphans to UNIKL.  Do some charity work by giving them a knowledge by the lecturer and any speaker. If we want make a donation, we can do in many ways, not only giving them some money.
